Welcome, friend!

Meet Hannah, the creator of HC: the Brand and a lifestyle blogger based on the east coast. What originally started in 2018 as a personal blog, to document and journal different passions for the purpose of having a creative outlet, has since grown into a platform that houses a community for brands, businesses, and passionate creatives to collaborate, create and grow together.

Our hope is that through our thoughtfully considered partners and carefully curated products, HC: the Brand will be a source of inspiration to help elevate your everyday experiences.

I was born and raised in the DMV area and spent my time as a university student studying in the upstate of South Carolina, which is where I eventually met my husband Malachi. After a few years of living in Greenville and having explored the Blue Ridge Mountains to my heart's content, I decided to satiate the need to live by the sea so relocated to the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Though originally a Maryland native, I quickly felt at home in the Lowcountry - the charming nature of the culture, the people, and the unparalleled natural beauty of the area instantly captivated me.

During these years spent in the Bluffton-Hilton Head area, I worked in Digital Marketing and Advertising, Malachi was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station-Beaufort, we exchanged vows and celebrated our marriage, welcomed our shepherd-mix rescue Ollie and golden retriever Alfie into our family, and found lifelong friendships among the most sincere, extraordinary people.

In the winter of 2021, we purchased a beautiful, historic c.1892 Queen Anne Victorian on the shores of the Tangier Sound and relocated to the Eastern Shore of Maryland which is where we currently reside.

"Whatever you do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."

-Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

just a few extra details

describe your perfect morning

My perfect morning begins with a workout, sunrise, and a coffee with devotions - all in that order. Having workout attire laid out and coffee set to brew on a timer the evening before helps with the illusion of being more put-together than I typically am at such an ungodly hour, haha! Don't worry, weekend mornings at home are still reserved for sleeping in and a slow morning accompanied with a robust espresso martini .

favorite quote

My favorite quote changes depending on the seasonality of life I'm in but as of October 2022, my favorite quote would have to be "I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have."

-Thomas Jefferson

I find this quote extremely relatable as I've personally found more success in combining hard work plus trying and failing than in simply hoping and dreaming.

fAVORITE WAY TO UNWIND

There's no better way for me to unwind from a long day than with either a run or long walk to the dock to catch sunset, followed by a cocktail and a home-cooked meal.

hobbies

Outside of work, my current hobbies include gardening; I'm slowly approaching the fine line between obsessive gardening and homesteading but sans farm animals, being a dog mom, trying new cuisines, backpacking, polishing up on oil painting, helping Chi restore/plan improvements for our historic home, and reading.

Your go-to coffee order

An oat milk cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso, please!

favorite cuisine

I have many - French, Filipino, Chinese, Caribbean, and Creole cuisines are at the top of my list. I want to improve my baking skills and recently ordered a copy of Kristina Cho's "Mooncakes and Milk Bread," so circle back to me in a few weeks and ask me how I feel about baking then, ha.

favorite project or collaboration to date

It's difficult to choose just one as we've been so blessed to have been a part of many incredible projects along the way but the East Meets Dress project/Modern Chinese Inspired shoot resonated with me on a deeper, more personal level. As a Chinese-Filipino from D.C., this specific project provided me the unique opportunity to connect with other Asian American creatives as well celebrate my Chinese heritage.
