Hey there! I am so excited to have this up and running! I’ve never liked writing “About Me’s” but hopefully this will help some of you understand why I’ve come to create my own little corner on the internet.
Short and simple facts about me: Raised in a large family: oldest of five, currently living in South Carolina, originally from Maryland. Major introvert, a MilSo (Chi supposedly gets out of the Marine Corps in August), Puppy mama to Oliver (Ollie) a 2 year 4 mo. old German-Shepherd mix and Alfred (Alfie) a 2 year 4 mo. old Golden Retriever. I don’t take myself too seriously-I can be painfully unaware of myself at times (just being honest.) I have a major sweet-tooth, still a Hayao-Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli loving child, the list really goes on and on. It’s always so funny how we think we know ourselves but when it comes time to describe who we think we are, the words are so hard to find…at least that’s how it is for me.
I’m extremely passionate about my culture and heritage, building community, finding and pursuing your passions, my dogs, my family and so many other things I can’t think of right now. Here’s a behind-the-scenes photo as I was working on getting this website up and running; With two pups, my life is ALWAYS full of entertainment and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I think it’s important to show what life is like outside of “the perfect post” and for me, that would mean a moment like this: comfy + cozy.
My posting and content creation here is my creative outlet. Towards the end of 2017, I began feeling a bit depressed and felt like I was hitting a dead-end, screeching stop in life. I’ve always loved art – for as long as I can remember, i’ve loved the feeling of creating something from scratch. Being creative, taking abstract ideas from my head and bringing them to life on paper was my favorite hobby. I still remember my first ever art class at the private school I grew up attending: first-grade, primary colors v. secondary colors, crayons, paint, everything. Fast forward to 2017, the last piece I had created was in 2015 when I had moved into my new home. Two years had passed since I had felt myself really be creative, so HERE WE ARE!
After lots of thinking and priceless advise from a treasured few, I wanted to begin documenting and sharing my thoughts, passions, moments, day-by-day’s with you.
To be completely honest I’m still working on figuring out what sort of content I’ll be posting but for now, I know i’ll be blogging about what it’s like living with two dogs: Ollie and Alfie who both have MASSIVE hearts and even bigger smiles, life with Chi, books i’m reading and would recommend, Southern AND Coastal life (lucky me!!), my new-found passion for life in the LowCountry, outfits and style pieces I obsess over, brands I love or collaborate with, the puppy mama community, my daily thoughts, my weekend-adventures, food and recipes, trips and travels and what it truly means to be a MilSo or other-half. Truly a Lifestyle sort of blog but who has time for labels these days? Ha.
I’m so appreciative of all the love and support I’ve already gotten from so many of you. Every time I began to doubt and thought to myself “I shouldn’t start blogging or have a website because everyone else is already doing it”, I would get a message asking why I didn’t have one and that I needed to! So, THANK YOU. Thank you to all the lovely messages and kind words of encouragement. It will mean so much to me, more than you will ever know!
I hope you’ll find some of the things I post helpful or informative, especially if you’re a MilSo or Puppy Mama! If not, I hope you find my posts entertaining or just something worth reading to pass the time 🙂
I currently have menu links above leading to PuppyMama, a Live Interview I did with them (yikes #introvert here: I was so nervous the whole time even though we had already prepared for it the day before, sorry Theresa!!!) and Legacy Magazine, so you can learn for yourself about who they are and what their missions are. Hopefully that will help you give a better idea of some of my passions and topics I value. My next few posts will go over the Puppy Mama community and why I love who they are as well as Legacy Magazine. In relation to Puppy Mama and their mission, I’m also going to incorporate some art into one of my future posts, so keep an eye out for that!
I’m so looking forward to making new connections. If any of you ever have any suggestions of questions, send them my way!
I’m still learning how to navigate through this beautiful life and can’t wait to share my days with you.
